Run Mongolia was born from a simple idea: what if runners could experience the raw, untouched beauty of the Mongolian steppe while pursuing their passion?
Our founder, Batbold Ganbold, a former national marathon champion, spent years training on the endless grasslands of his homeland. He knew that these landscapes held something special—a sense of freedom and connection to nature that's increasingly rare in our modern world.
In 2018, he organized the first Gobi Desert Ultra Marathon with just 47 participants. Today, Run Mongolia hosts over a dozen events annually, welcoming thousands of runners from 35+ countries to experience the magic of Mongolia.
But we're more than just a race organizer. We're a community of adventurers, dreamers, and runners united by our love for Mongolia and the transformative power of running.
These principles guide everything we do at Run Mongolia.
We believe running should be an adventure. Our events take you to places you've never imagined.
We're building a global community of runners who share a passion for Mongolia and running.
We're committed to preserving Mongolia's pristine landscapes for future generations.
